MONTEREY COUNTY — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and the Grower-Shipper Association of Central California have announced the application availability of the third annual South County Young Leaders Program. They are looking for motivated high school or college students living in Southern Monterey County interested in learning about the local government process. The program will include workshops, community events and guest speakers, who represent key industries in the community. “This is a great opportunity to work alongside the District 3 team and learn about the place we call home, while strengthening your skills,” Lopez said. SAFER ROADS
SALINAS — Congresswoman Zoe Lofgren has announced that the City of Salinas will receive $16 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation to reduce traffic congestion and improve safety along Williams Road. “Our roads provide vital connections and ensure residents can safely access jobs, schools, stores and more. This important funding will help … Salinas improve road conditions and advance safety plans,” Lofgren said. This funding is part of the DOT’s Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant program, which supports the planning and implementation of safety action plans to address roadway safety issues. The DOT funding was provided by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law.
