SALINAS ā Longtime Monterey County resident John McPherson has been named the new executive director of Alliance on Aging, taking over for longtime Executive Director Teresa Sullivan, who is retiring.
McPherson has been executive director at education and advocacy nonprofit organizations, and held executive roles in both the produce and financial services industry. He has served on the Monterey County Board of Education since 2012, and has been a leading advocate in the fight against human trafficking in Monterey County.
In addition, McPherson is president of the California County School Boards Association, and was previously the president of the Oversight Board for the Sand City Redevelopment Successor Agency.
McPherson demonstrates his passion for young people through coaching youth sports and volunteering with 4H.
A graduate of the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1985 with a bachelorās degree in business administration, McPherson resides with his wife Christina and two children in Las Palmas.

Established in 1970, Alliance on Aging provides services and resources that address the challenges and opportunities for older adults in Monterey County. This volunteer-driven organization, which began as a single program with a handful of volunteers, is now a multi-purpose senior service agency with over 200 volunteers.
As the largest nonprofit provider of senior services in Monterey County, the Alliance on Aging serves over 7,000 individuals every year.
