GONZALES ā€” This year marks the fourth year that organizers from the Adventure Seeking Seniors group in Gonzales have donated handmade blankets to elderly and sick senior citizens of the community.

At the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, Gonzales residents and group members Marilyn Duby, Lupe Kinnear, Carol Piffero and Jean Salcido wanted to work on a project that would provide blankets to the senior community.

This year the project has expanded to 20 adults and 15 high school students that have worked on and completed the blankets.

Many of the blankets include inspirational messages, such as ā€œAll things grow with loveā€ and ā€œYou are free to fly. Spread your wings.ā€

At this time, over half of the 20 blankets have been distributed.
