LISTENING SESSIONS
SALINAS VALLEY — Monterey County Supervisor Chris Lopez and his District 3 office are hosting a series of listening sessions throughout South Monterey County. The final two sessions will take place Thursday, Nov. 30, at 5:30 p.m. at Gonzales City Council Chambers, 117 Fourth St. in Gonzales, and Monday, Dec. 4, at 5:30 p.m. at Hartnell College’s Soledad Education Center’s Community Room, 1505 Metz Road in Soledad. Residents are invited to share their thoughts and concerns about the community and county government.
COUNTRY CHRISTMAS
SALINAS — California Rodeo Association will host the first-ever Country Christmas Celebration, presented by MYCARS.com, on Thursday, Nov. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Salinas Sports Complex. This free community event will feature a tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. as well as complimentary photos with cowboy Santa Claus, hot cocoa, candy canes, letters to Santa, ornament-making and more. The tree, donated by Jenkinson Family Christmas Trees, will be approximately 20 feet tall and stay lit through the new year. “We are excited to bring the community together to kick off the holiday season and hope to see many local families here enjoying the festivities,” said Rodeo President Steve Davis. Residents can learn more about options to re-evaluate their coverage at a free Medicare update presentation on Friday, Dec. 1, at 9:30 a.m. (English) and 10:30 a.m. (Spanish) at King City Library, 402 Broadway St.

GONZALES — La Gloria Elementary School in Gonzales is hosting its annual Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Dec. 2, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The fundraiser will be inside the school’s cafeteria at 220 Elko St. and feature handmade crafts by local artisans, food, desserts, raffles, face painting, performances and more, including a visit from Santa from 12 to 2 p.m. Admission is free.
