SOLEDAD — For the first time in school history, the Soledad High girls’ softball team is a co-league champion.
The Aztecs softball program had to suffer for many years, but this year they made history when they beat Seaside, 11-1, on May 10. That win clinched a share of the league title in the Cypress Division for the first time in the school’s history.
“This is for every girl who passed through our Aztecs softball program and has believed from the beginning that one day we would get (a title),” according to a social media post.
The Lady Aztecs will share the league title with the Monte Vista Christian Mustangs, who beat Soledad in their last matchup.
The next step for the Aztecs was waiting to see if they got into the Central Coast Section playoffs. The CCS selection committee met on Monday, and unfortunately, Soledad did not make the cut.
