SOLEDAD — This holiday season got a little brighter for more than 400 local children, who received gifts through a Toy Giveaway last month in Soledad.
VIDA Project joined forces with the Community Foundation for Monterey County, Soledad McDonald’s, Radio Lazer 93.1 and the Soledad Police Department, as well as county and city officials, to distribute hundreds of toys plus McDonald’s prizes to the youth.
There was also free Covid-19 testing and resources available at the Dec. 18 toy distribution.
“I am grateful to all the community partners that made today’s toy distribution possible,” said Soledad Mayor Anna Velazquez on social media afterward. “Over 400 children with happy smiles, this is what the Holiday spirit is all about! My best moment was receiving a great big giant HUG from a little girl who picked out her gift! These are the moments when you realize the significant impact these events have on our children and families.”
