GONZALES — A fun evening was enjoyed by all at the Gonzales High School track and field banquet and awards night that took place June 3 at the school cafeteria.
“Being able to recognize all our athletes for their hard work throughout the season is such a privilege,” said Spartans head track and field coach Margie Daniels. “Not only their athletic achievements, but also for their sportsmanship.”
The potluck awards banquet began with a presentation of awards by Daniels to the McFarland and Young families for their commitment to the program.
Every athlete on the team was introduced and presented with certificates of sports achievement, followed by certificates of academic achievement from Gonzales High and the Central Coast Section.
After dinner, a slide show and video presentation was viewed by all and featured fun times and highlights from the season.
The evening concluded with team awards and pictures that were taken behind a backdrop track with running lanes that was created by Daniels.
