GONZALES — Gonzales City Council is inviting letters of interest from residents who want to serve on the Gonzales Planning Commission, which currently has one position open.
In 2022 and 2023, the Planning Commission will be working on the Vista Lucia and Puente del Monte annexation projects that will comprise approximately 1,314 acres on the east side of the town. There are 6,200 residential units proposed, four elementary schools, one new middle school, parks and open space.
In addition, the Planning Commission will consider a number of new development projects within the City of Gonzales, Gonzales Agricultural Industrial Park and the City of Gonzales Future Growth Area. The city’s community development director is the city staff person assigned to the Planning Commission.
“This is an excellent opportunity to learn the role of a Planning Commissioner, to contribute to your community and establish relationships with other community leaders,” according to the City of Gonzales.
The Planning Commission meets the second Monday of each month at 6 p.m. The per diem is $50 per month.

The letter should describe the applicant’s background and qualifications and reason for applying.
