GREENFIELD — Detectives from the Greenfield Police Department have arrested a second shooting suspect in connection with a 2021 attempted murder.

The 16-year-old suspect was taken into custody Wednesday for his involvement in the Feb. 11, 2021, shooting that injured an 18-year-old on the 200 block of 13th Street.

The other shooting suspect, 19-year-old Jonathan Rojas, was arrested in January for the attempted murder as well as for two murders in 2020.

The year-long investigation involved viewing hours of surveillance footage, speaking with witnesses, following-up on tips from community members and conducting several search warrants, all of which led to the suspects’ arrests.

“Although both suspects in this case have been taken into custody, the investigation is ongoing,” detectives said. “Your tips have helped us solve this and other violent crimes.”

Anyone with more information related to this or other cases is encouraged to contact Detective Lerma at 831-601-8376 or Sgt. Mattke at 831-233-1302.
