GREENFIELD — Three juvenile gang members have been arrested after they committed an armed robbery of the Chevron gas station in Greenfield late last month.
According to Greenfield Police Chief Greg Allen, the suspects entered the gas station, located at 202 El Camino Real, at about 9:30 p.m. on May 31.
One of the suspects went directly to the back counter and held a gun to the head of the clerk, demanding money out of the cash register. Another suspect, who was armed with a knife, assisted the first suspect in opening the cash register and taking cash.
A third suspect “remained outside and used a baseball bat to disable one of the security cameras,” police said in a June 10 news release.
The suspects then fled the store through the alley behind the gas station.
A follow-up investigation and review of security camera footage led to the identification of the suspects, who are all juvenile gang members.
On June 2, four search warrants were served on four separate residences in Greenfield, with the assistance of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation’s Special Response Team.
“During the search of the residences, evidence of the crime was located, including the black replica gun (resembling a real firearm) that was used during the commission of the crime,” police said.
All three suspects were arrested for armed robbery and other related charges.
