SALINAS VALLEY — More than 100 veterans, families and community members attended the Soledad Memorial Day ceremony on Monday to pay respects to the soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country.

Hosted by Soledad VFW at Soledad Cemetery, Soledad’s event was one of two large ceremonies held in the Salinas Valley, with the other taking place in Salinas.

Gonzales and Greenfield organized small observances this year, with the latter also hosting a community barbecue, while still being cautious about Covid-19 pandemic health concerns.
