GONZALES — Needing to win two games to finish with a .500 league record, the Gonzales High Spartan baseball team won on the road and at home against the Robert Louis Stevenson. Gonzales won its last two series of games against Trinity Christian and Stevenson to finish at 9-9 in league and 11-12 overall.
“Our expectations this season were to compete in every game and get to double digit wins,” said Gonzales head coach Erik Lopez. “We knew it was going to be tough but if we could compete and stay in games we were going to pull out a few wins. I’m proud of the hard work the team put in and continued to do all season to finish with five wins in a row and get to .500. We wanted to send the seniors out on a high note. This year we established the expectations for the program moving forward.”
